Punishing the Messenger

First off, I’d like to thank my lovely host for letting me stop by to shamelessly plug volume 1 of Sexy to Go. The brainchild of Eva Lefoy, it’s a collection of sizzling short stories meant to give readers a quick burst of sexiness to spice up their busy day. While the line-up of authors might change over time, the idea is to release a new anthology at regular intervals—each loaded with a variety of tales, with heat levels ranging from sweet to smoking hot.

The first installment is available now, and the second one is on its way.

My story, Punishing the Messenger, is a BDSM-flavored homage to the soap operas I used to watch back in my teens. Corporate intrigue returns an outcast scion to Hong Kong, where he faces the PR nightmare of having his bride disappear hours before the wedding. The person sent to deliver the bad news catches his interest, and they work out a creative solution to his problem.

And yes, fun stuff happens in his office.

After releasing quite a few romantic comedies in a row, it was refreshing to let my darker side come out to play. But never fear, this slightly kinky tryst has its own version of a happily ever after, though I reserve the right to revisit these characters at a later date.

As for where my story falls on the sexy scale, I’ll let this sample speak for itself.

Her breath hitched at the proposition. She couldn’t help but imagine herself at his feet, his hand clutching her hair, her fingers unbuckling his belt. The way he surveyed her sent a shiver down her spine. When their gazes met, she felt her pulse on her fingertips.

“I told you not to look at me like that.”

Fearing he’d somehow glimpsed her fantasy, she bent her head and examined the hands she’d interlaced over her lap. “How do I look at you?”

“Like a lover, daring me to take charge.”
