Blitz: The Incorruptibles paranormal romance series by @SDWasleyAuthor #PNR @SensuousPromos

Blitz: The Incorruptibles paranormal romance series

To celebrate the release of Book 2, Fallout, we are today featuring The Incorruptibles paranormal romance series (new adult) by S.D. Wasley.

From Amazon bestselling author S.D. Wasley comes a new adult paranormal romance series, The Incorruptibles, perfect for lovers of Lauren Kate's Fallen and Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Obsidian. This new adult paranormal romance series centres on a group of apparently mismatched people who share a strange secret. Led by Cain Aleister, the group is meeting nightly in a forgotten underground chamber, safe from the prying eyes of the public – until Francesca (Frankie) Caravaggio explodes into their lives. Frankie has a chip on her shoulder and a dogged determination to find out what the big secret is. But could that determination be her downfall?

The Incorruptibles novels feature the stunning artwork of Finnmacc Artography as several charcoal, pen and ink illustrations throughout each novel. Book 1, Downfall is just 99c on Amazon and Book 2, Fallout, is now available for $2.99.

About Downfall, Book 1

Frankie’s cousin wants her to do three things this year:

1. Lose her inhibitions
2. Do something spectacularly stupid
3. Fall madly in love

Travelling was Frankie’s life. As the daughter of a big-name evangelist, she’s been able to feed her hunger for new sights throughout most of her teenage years. Then a hushed-up scandal gets her thrown off the tour circuit and stuck at her uncle’s house in the town of Augur’s Well.

Forced to repeat her failed senior year, it looks like a dismal existence for Frankie—until she’s invited to the bizarre meeting place of four mismatched people ... and falls hard for the fascinating, secretive Cain Aleister.

Furtive meetings in an underground chamber ... Latin words carved into a stone wall ... intense desire ... and a secret so elusive she’ll do almost anything to bust it open. Until now, Frankie never believed in grand passions—but that’s not the only one of her beliefs about to implode right before her eyes.

Looks like Frankie’s going to score three for three.

About Fallout, Book 2

Even when love seems unbreakable, it can still be battered, distorted—damaged beyond repair.

There’s only one thing Frankie yearns for these days, and that’s to share the gift that makes Cain so extraordinary. But no matter how inferior she feels, she’s determined to help the man she loves with his secret rescues, hoping that one day she will access a higher power of her own.

The one thing she knows for sure is that nothing will ever come between her and Cain again.

Then a stranger arrives in their midst, disrupting the solid loyalties in Cain’s group. This man has the very thing Frankie needs to unlock her powers, but the price is higher than she could have dreamed.

Can Frankie and Cain’s love survive the fallout?

Excerpt from Downfall:

At Gaunt House ruins, the night started much the same as usual: some quiet chit-chat, a game of Monopoly, a beer and some snacks. But then it happened again. Not long after I arrived, Cain had a private consultation with Liz. They disappeared into the cooler room while I was moving my little dog around the game board. When they reappeared Cain said he was going out for pizza and more beer. I mustered my courage and asked to tag along but he said he’d be quick and I should stay in the game. He was gone for forty minutes … an hour … an hour and twenty … an hour and forty… Over and over I asked the other three where he could be but they just shrugged, elaborately nonchalant.

“Could he have got in an accident?” I asked.

“He’s fine, Frankie,” Jude assured me.

“It doesn’t take two hours to get pizza!”

“He’ll be back,” Owen said. “I’ll have Trafalgar Square, Liz.”

I doubted myself. They were all so casual. Maybe there really was no secret. The Monopoly game was long finished when Cain finally returned around eleven … with no pizza or drinks. He feigned forgetfulness when I demanded to know why, and I thought I saw the others hiding their smiles. What the heck? Was this some kind of initiation? Cain headed for the cooler room so I pursued. He fished in the cooler and cracked open a sugary drink, slamming it down in what must have been record time.

“Where did you go?” I asked.

He reached for a second soda. “Nowhere.”

“Tell me.”

He took a big gulp from the new can and went for the plastic crate where spare packets of chips and snacks were kept. There was just one small bag of nuts left, which he tore into and finished in one go. I stared. Cain made as if to head back to the main chamber.

“Hey,” I snapped.

Cain stopped and looked at me, a strange darkness coming into his eyes.

“Where …?”

I didn’t finish because at that moment he stepped in close to me, just inches away, looking intently down into my face. My first instinct was to back away but I fought it and held my ground, knees beginning to shake.

“Francesca,” he said in a voice so soft I didn’t know whether it was tender or menacing. “Stop asking questions.”

Then he was gone. I let out a breath and was obliged to spend a couple of minutes regaining my presence of mind before I went back out to join the group.

Excerpt

I had to touch him on his bike, to press my arms and thighs around him so I wouldn’t fall off. He was solid. I don’t know what I’d expected but, for some reason, that surprised me. I felt fear as well as something else I didn’t understand, something that made me tremble all over. I told myself it was just the exhilaration of speeding along the highway with the cooling wind rushing past my arms. He didn’t ride towards civilisation but took us even further beyond Gaunt House ruins. I had no idea how long we were out there but it must have been a long ride because the light started to change. I wondered if Cain could feel how hard my heart was thumping with it pressed against his back like that. When we finally arrived back the others’ cars were at the ruin. He cut the engine as we coasted to a halt. I let my arms fall reluctantly but stayed where I was.
“Where did you go, when you went out the other night?”
I felt Cain go tense and it took him a moment to answer. “What do you mean?”
“And last week. Where did you go? What’s the big secret?” I twisted around him, trying to see his face.
When he glanced down at me I knew for certain I was right. There was a secret. I nudged his back with my shoulder.
“I don’t know what …” he said, his tone mechanical.
My frustration surged. “I’m not going to let it go. You’ve invited me back here so what’s the secret? I bet the other three know. Tell me!” He didn’t answer. “We can do this the easy way or the hard way.” I shocked myself with this tough guy attitude. “Are you choosing the hard way?”
Cain was startled, too. “What are you going to do?”
I just slipped off the seat, leaving him to put the bike on its stand and follow me into the ruin.
“Francesca!”
I heard from his hurried footsteps that he wanted to talk to me before we went inside but I didn’t trust myself not to betray what I was feeling; this big … huge … massive desire, just barely disguised by frustration. I knew the other three were inside. It would be safe in there. We wouldn’t be able to have this conversation anymore. I just needed to make it inside before he caught up to me. After a swift clamber down the ladder I rushed blindly for the door but somehow Cain caught my hand to stop me an instant before I threw the door open.
Francesca.” He breathed my name warm against my neck.
A hot, uncomfortable flush hit me when Liz, Owen, and Jude saw my hand caught in Cain’s, although he made an attempt to pull his away. Too late. They’d seen our breathless awkwardness, dishevelled hair, and tangled fingers.

Praise for Downfall...

“I longed for normality. Even our own, off-the-wall brand of normality.”

She’s finally got things together. Mimi’s dating a hot guy and has a place in the school’s Gifted Program with her awesome friends. Yes, she still attracts the dead. But there’s only one ghost these days, and he doesn’t seem to have an awful lot to say.

Just when Mimi’s life is looking pretty good for the first time in years, the unthinkable happens ... one of the seven gifted teens is torn from their close-knit group. The unity of their circle shattered, things begin to go terribly wrong. It’s ruining their focus—and with the threat of the Astarion cult growing stronger each day, the gifted seven need all the focus they can muster.

In The Seventh, Mimi found her place in a circle of seven extraordinary teenagers. In The Rift, she must face what happens when the circle of seven is broken.

I started riding my bike home in the early afternoon. A sudden downpour hit when I was still a good mile away, drenching me. I had a kickass rain jacket but there was no stopping this deluge. Water went into every opening. I could hardly see where I was pedalling. At one point, I nearly hit the dark figure of a man that stepped in front of me on the road, and I had to screech to a slippery halt, scrambling off my bike.
“Oh, my gosh, are you okay?” I cried, but when I squinted into the rainy gloom behind me, I couldn’t see where the guy had gone. “Hello?” I called, hoping I hadn’t somehow hurtled him into a hedgerow. Nothing. Maybe the horrible weather was messing with my sanity. I resumed my ride home, feeling deeply sorry for myself.
Drew’s house was around half a mile from mine, and happened to be pretty much on the way back from Mona’s, so I decided to throw myself on the mercy of the Ellery family. I threw my bike down and dashed to the front door, my ghosts watching me from where they stood in the garden. Still totally dry, I thought resentfully. Drew answered, his eyes lighting up when he saw me.
“Mimi!” he said with a laugh, pulling me into the hall and helping me out of my supposedly waterproof jacket. “Look at you! Hang on, I’ll get a towel.”
I didn’t want to track water on Mrs. Ellery’s highly polished floorboards, so I took off my boots. My socks were just as soaked, so they had to be peeled off too. My remaining clothes were still wet through, but at least I wouldn’t be leaving a trail. Drew came back with a towel and I dried off my hair as much as possible.
“I needed some shelter for a while,” I said. “I couldn’t see where I was going. I think I nearly killed some poor guy who was taking a walk. I must have really scared him, he ran off so fast.”
“You can stop here for shelter any time, or to hide from the cops when you murder an unsuspecting pedestrian.” Drew grinned, pulling me by the hand into the lounge room where a fire was burning. I stood in front of it gratefully, the wet denim of my jeans steaming as it heated up.
“Where’s your family?” I asked.
“They’re all out seeing a movie. I wasn’t interested,” he told me.
So, we were alone, huh? He saw the delight jump into my face as I reached for him. “Oh, Mimi,” he admonished, his voice going soft and low, “you are so bad.”
“What?” I feigned innocence, but couldn’t suppress a smile.
Drew didn’t need any further invitation. He slid a hand onto the back of my neck, under my damp tangle of hair, pulling my lips close to his. For a moment I marvelled at how amazing our kisses were. No matter how often we kissed—and we kissed a lot—it was still magical. Every. Single. Time. But then I forgot to marvel as we sank into that kiss. This was the kind of kiss that didn’t have an end point. It just got closer, deeper, and morphed into more. Before I knew what was happening, we were on the sofa, me lying across Drew, making him and the cushions soggy with my rain-soaked clothes. I sat up and peeled off my wet sweater, which left me in just a red singlet. As he watched, his green eyes seemed to get darker. More intense. I went for his lips again, inhaling his familiar smell—my favourite smell in the world. Suddenly I could hardly bear to have any distance between us at all.
Then Drew abruptly pushed me off him and sat up. He was breathing sort of heavily as he spoke. “As much as I wish with every fibre of my being that I could close us into a temporal bubble and preserve this moment in time—and other moments that might lead from this moment—I am seriously stressing about my parents getting home at any second.”
I groaned. “When do you expect them?”
“About twenty minutes ago,” Drew confessed, dropping his face into his hands.
