New #Teen #SciFi Release from @lwreyes and @EvernightTeen #Suspense #YA #Romance

Mira wants to die. She’s attempted suicide twice already and failed. Every time she comes in contact with another person, skin to skin, that person’s psyche uploads into hers. While her psychologist considers this a gift, for Mira it’s a curse from which she cannot escape.
To make matters worse, Mira’s father is being investigated for the deaths of several volunteer test subjects of the miracle drug Gaudium. Shortly after Mira’s mother starts asking questions, she ends up in a coma. Although her father claims it was an accident, thanks to her “condition” Mira knows the truth, but proving it just might get her killed.

Excerpt:
I’m alive?
Yes. Still alive…
Again.
A tube runs from an IV bag into my arm, the plastic needle burrowing under my skin like a tick. Thank God I was unconscious when they put that in. I cringe at the thought of being deluged with so many psyches at once—paramedics, nurses, doctors, all of them touching me.
Where are my clothes? They must have taken them off when I was out. This flimsy gown can’t protect me. I want to tear off the tape securing the IV tube to my skin, rip it off like a Band-Aid. I want out of here, but then I see Mama sleeping beside me, her body sloped in a plastic chair. I shouldn’t have done this to her again. But I had to try.
A plastic clamp pinches my finger, connecting me to a heart monitor. Three inches further up, my wrist is wrapped in gauze. Two months ago I would never have had the courage to do this—or any reason to. But now, feeling the staples beneath the bandage, I wonder how deep someone has to cut in order to die?
The curtain jerks back, the metal rings dragging across the ceiling rail. Mama snaps to attention. I half expect her to stand and salute.
“Miranda Ortiz?” says a woman in a beige linen suit and crisp white blouse. She is thin, stiff, and colorless. She reeks of gardenias.
“I’m Dr. Walsh from Mental Health,” she continues. The plastic laminated nametag hanging from her neck confirms this.
Dr. Walsh extends her hand, but instead of taking it, I grasp the edge of my sheet and pull it up to my chin. Other than this stupid hospital gown, it’s the only barrier I’ve got right now.
Mama stands up and reaches over the bed to shake the doctor’s hand. “I’m Mira’s mother, Ana,” she says wearily. She starts to sit back down, but Dr. Walsh interrupts.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you in person, Mrs. Ortiz. However, I’d like to speak to your daughter alone, if that’s all right.”
Dr. Walsh is insistent, in a polite sort of way. Mama leans toward me, and for a split second I think she’s going to kiss me goodbye. Though deep down I almost wish she would, instead she offers me her gentle smile and tucks the sheet under my shoulder.
“Please don’t go,” I whisper.
“It’ll only be a few minutes,” she says. “I’ll be just outside, all right?”
Mama brushes a strand of hair from my eyes with her manicured fingernails, careful to avoid contact with my skin. She smiles at me, but her eyes are wistful. As she walks out, my insides tighten up, and I suddenly realize how much I’ve missed her touch. My instinct is to cling to her like when I was small, but instead I press my arms stiffly to my sides like a corpse.
A security guard opens the door and accompanies Mama out into the hall. Dr. Walsh takes Mama’s empty chair, crosses one leg over the other, and lays a clipboard on her knee. “So,” she begins, “you cut yourself last night. Is that right?”
Her voice is casual and smooth, as if she’s just asked me what I ate for dinner. She waits for me to respond. When I don’t, she glances down at her clipboard. “I understand it’s not your first attempt. You were here a couple of weeks ago, I see. Overdose, but no permanent damage done.”
She glances up at me, pausing in case I have something to say.
I don’t.

#SciFi Book Tour for The Argon Factor by Heather Harlow @HeatherMHarlow #Kindle

Welcome to the Book Tour for Heather Harlow's The Argon Factor. This is an exciting, edge of your seat and action packed story about what could happen in our future if technology gets ahead of us. Already climbing the Sci-Fi and Fantasy charts it has reached both the #1 slots for Universe and Solar System. Oh and did we mention that there is an attraction in this story lurking just beneath the surface? Mark our words readers this is going to be a good one. So strap yourselves in, because this is your first stop on The Argon Factor book tour.

In a futuristic world, where Earth’s cities are still recovering from being ravaged by gang wars, cyber crime is at it’s peak and threatens the world’s digitized monetary supply.

Susan Caldwell is a newly hired security development manager at GTS, the company that controls the world’s monetary supply and data. The sophisticated systems have been hacked and now people on Susan’s team are being killed while they try to fix the breach.

Susan, who trusts no man, must rely upon the GTS CEO, Christoph Baldric, to keep her safe. Little does she know that he’s the Argon alien commander on Earth. She’s not interested in him, doesn’t want a hookup with him, but is extremely attracted to him. Susan has her own plans and will be having a baby through the fertility clinic. She’s excited about her pending future, that is, if she is still alive.

Christoph Baldric’s mission is to protect the Earth’s humans and nurture them so that eventually his people can merge with the humans. Christoph’s planet, Argon, was blown up when their major sun exploded into a black hole. The people of Argon have been studying and nurturing Earth for many millennia as a new, potential home. Now is the time to make Earth their home and begin merging with Earth’s humans, making both races stronger.

But first, the Argonians must save Earth from the Grogan’s, the Argon nemesis from their home universe, Baldracon, who want to eliminate all life on Earth and take the planet for their own.

Author Interview
Name:  Heather Harlow
Gender: Female
Age: 46
Profession:  Author / IT Professional - IT Program Management
Do you have any special skills or training?  BBA Marketing/Transportation Logistics, MBA Management Information Systems
I have a lot of computer skills and am working in IT management as a program manager.  My current project is U2L, migrating UNIX servers to LINUX.  I’ve installed software on servers.  I’ve learned several coding languages, but I hate coding.  I’ve been an IT consultant for over 15 years. (i.e. project manager, business analyst, program manager, delivery manager, etc…)
How would you describe yourself?  sometimes I’m outgoing and full of energy, I can be calm and professional.  I like to shock people with a funny, ironic take on something.  I’m definitely an optimist.  I have my down moments, don't we all and sometimes, I go days without leaving the house or seeing anyone in person.
Who are your significant other(s)?
My two dog and two cats.  Mickey Dawg (13), Jack Dawg (5 mos), Cali Cat (11.5 yrs old), and “Smokey” Dokey (8)
How would they describe you?
She feeds us! She lets us outside to pee and poop.  She cleans the litter boxes.
Cali would say that I’m a great snuggler at night and sleep basically in one spot and one location all night.
My friends say things like:  loyal friend, extremely outgoing (especially after alcohol), funny, smart, witty, always positive and looking on the bright side, gregarious, enthusiastic, open minded, compassionate, kind, outspoken, always honest with opinions, intelligent, forgiving, spontaneous, and exuberant.
Tell us about your family.
Duh, my pets!  LOL!
One brother, oldest, two older sisters, and one younger sister.
My parents are still alive and in their late 70’s.  They’ve both had strokes so they aren’t the same.  But man, they were rockin’ parents!!  They used to take us everywhere (of course we had to behave!), we took a driving vacation around the U.S. twice, before Chevy Chase’s “Vacation”.
What do you think was left unsettled in your story?
Susan’s feelings for Christoph definitely.  Plus, she’s dealing with this new information that aliens have been helping us for centuries.  She’s overwhelmed in more ways than you can imagine.
If you could change anything about your story what would it be?
I might like to get into the Grogans and Eva Sinclair a little bit more.  However, the second book is going to be a lot about them and their preverted sexual behaviors.

Heather Harlow has wanted to be an author since adolescence.  The Argon Factor is her first book in a series about aliens from the planet Argon.
She’s always been a fan of superheroes:  Batman and Robin, Spiderman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Six Million Dollar Man, and the Bionic Woman.
She likes sci-fi movies and series, like Star Trek and Battle Star Galactica. More recently, she’s been enjoying the Avenger movies. In addition to her sci-fi interests, she’s a romantic.   Therefore, it was natural for her to write about science fiction and combine it with a human interest story that has sex and romance in it.
Heather graduated from University of Memphis (BBA) and Tennessee Technological University (MBA).  Her day job is in IT at a major telecommunications company.  She currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her dogs, Mickey (13), a Golden Retriever, Jack (5mos), a black Lab/shepherd mix, and two cats, Smokey and Cali.
She loves wine, good music, great food, the beach, swimming, exercising, football (college and NFL), World Cup Soccer, and NHL Playoffs.
